About Me

My name is Penni
My name is Penni and I am delighted to introduce my original watercolour paintings to you.
My aim is to create beautiful art to enhance people’s lives at affordable prices.
I do not want to be the sort of artist whose work people look at and say“I love it but I can’t afford it”
Every day I appreciate the beauty of the wonderful Forest of Dean countryside around me and my aim is to recreate this in my watercolour painting.
All my inspiration is taken from nature and I have developed a loose, flowing technique to capture this with paint on paper.
Now I am enjoying bringing my paintings to a wider audience
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I have enjoyed creating them….
History
I live with my family and dog in the beautiful Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England.
I started my artistic life after leaving school by doing a Foundation Course at Loughborough College of Art & Design.
Since then a considerable number of years and several different careers have passed before I decided that I would like to try watercolour painting.
And so in 2019 with the help of a couple of courses I learnt the basics and this started me off….
Since then my own style has developed and I have discovered the beauty and freedom and unpredictability of watercolours.
Many of my paintings in the beginning were for friends and family and it gave me great pleasure to find that they were well received and even cherished. And this encouraged me to see if there might be a market for my work…

In 2022 I had my first exhibition at Brockweir Café which was very well supported. Following that I exhibited at Dean Heritage Centre for a few weeks which was also very successful.
Since then I have exhibited at Forest Showcase, the Picture Gallery in Cinderford and a variety of craft sales.
I joined farOpen in 2023 and exhibited during the open trail week at Severnside Press, Newnham – again very well -received.

This opened up a whole new community of local artists to me and gave me the encouragement I needed to seek other outlets for my work.
Following a chance meeting fellow FarOpen artist Karen Barthram and I decided to open a gallery together to permanently exhibit alongside other local artists.
And so Butterfly Creations was born….
